Mitie secures £18m waste contract with Manchester Airports Group

Mitie will deliver comprehensive waste and recycling services for Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands airports under a new multi-year contract with Manchester Airports Group. The deal includes circular economy initiatives, waste reduction targets and technology to improve sorting and diversion from landfill, all aligned with MAG's commitment to reach net zero by 2038.

For facilities and service companies, this type of contract highlights how environmental performance is now a core procurement requirement, not an optional add-on. Clients expect measurable outcomes—tonnes diverted, carbon saved, recyclate quality—and the reporting systems to prove it. That expectation is filtering down to every tier of the supply chain, including fleet operators.

If your business handles waste, recycling, cleaning or logistics for large sites, you'll need vehicles that support those environmental goals: low or zero tailpipe emissions, optimised routing to cut mileage, and telematics to track and report progress. The same applies to any service fleet working on corporate or public-sector contracts.

Bluepoppy's EV transition and connected fleet services help waste, FM and service businesses meet client sustainability requirements without breaking the bank. We'll match the right vehicles to your operation, structure flexible lease terms across multiple funders, and set up the data reporting that wins and retains contracts. Let's start with a Fleet Cost Review.
